A few months had passed.
Ethan and Lily were now closer than ever. They knew each other's favorite food, favorite songs, and even the little things that made each other smile.
One evening, after school, Ethan asked, "Are you free tomorrow?"
Lily looked at him curiously.
"Yes. Why?"
"I want to take you somewhere."
"Is it a surprise?"
Ethan smiled.
"It is."
The next evening, Ethan took Lily to a small hill outside the city. It was one of the best places to watch the sunset.
The sky slowly turned orange, pink, and purple.
"It's beautiful," Lily said as she looked at the view.
"I know," Ethan replied. "But that's not why I brought you here."
Lily turned to look at him.
Ethan looked nervous. He took a deep breath and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Lily... there's something I've wanted to tell you for a long time."
She waited quietly.
"When we first met, I thought you were just another classmate. But the more time I spent with you, the more I realized how special you are."
He smiled softly.
"You make my bad days better. You make me laugh, and you always believe in me."
Lily felt her heart beating faster.
"I don't want us to be just friends anymore."
He looked into her eyes.
"Lily... I like you. Actually..."
He took a deep breath.
"I love you."
For a moment, everything was silent.
The only sound was the gentle breeze.
Lily smiled, and tears filled her eyes.
"I was hoping you'd say that."
Ethan looked surprised.
"You were?"
She nodded.
"I've loved you for a long time too."
A big smile appeared on Ethan's face.
"So... is that a yes?"
Lily laughed.
"Yes, Ethan. It's a yes."
Ethan couldn't stop smiling.
He gently held her hand.
"I promise I'll always be by your side."
Lily squeezed his hand.
"And I promise to never let go."
As the sun disappeared behind the hills, they stood together, watching the sky.
Neither of them knew what the future had planned.
But at that moment, they believed they would always have each other.
It was the beginning of their love story.
