Pieces of Past

After the memory of the bracelet, Ethan started remembering small things.

Not complete memories—just little moments that came and went.

Sometimes it happened when he heard a song.

Sometimes when he visited a place.

And sometimes... when he looked at Lily.

One morning, Ethan was walking through the school hallway when he heard a familiar tune playing from someone's phone.

He stopped.

His heart began to race.

For a second, he saw himself dancing with Lily at the school festival. She was laughing, and he was trying to copy her dance moves.

Then the memory disappeared.

"Ethan?" his friend Ryan called.

Ethan blinked.

"What happened?"

"I... I remembered something."

That afternoon, Ethan met Lily in the school garden.

"I remembered the school festival," he said.

Lily's face lit up.

"You do?"

"I remembered us dancing."

Lily laughed.

"You were terrible."

"I was?"

"You stepped on my foot three times."

Ethan laughed too.

"That sounds like me."

For a moment, it felt like the old Ethan was back.

As the days passed, more memories returned.

He remembered sharing one umbrella with Lily in the rain.

He remembered eating ice cream in the park.

He remembered her laughing when he made silly jokes.

But one thing still wouldn't come back.

The day he told Lily he loved her.

One evening, Ethan was sitting alone in his room.

He looked through the old photos on his phone.

There were hundreds of pictures of Lily.

Some were funny.

Some were blurry.

Some showed them smiling at the camera.

He smiled as he looked at them.

Then he found a short video.

He pressed play.

It showed Lily pointing the camera at him.

"Say something," she laughed.

Ethan looked into the camera and smiled.

"If you're watching this one day..."

He paused.

"I just want you to know that I love you, Lily. More than anything."

The video ended.

Ethan stared at the screen.

His eyes filled with tears.

He still couldn't remember saying those words.

But hearing his own voice made something inside him break.

The next morning, he met Lily before school.

Without saying anything, he hugged her.

Lily was surprised.

"Ethan?"

He slowly pulled away.

"I still can't remember everything."

Lily nodded.

"I know."

"But every day..."

He smiled softly.

"I feel like I'm falling in love with you all over again."

Lily couldn't stop the tears from falling.

She smiled through them.

"I think that's even more beautiful."

They stood together in silence.

The memories were returning slowly.

But their love...

Had never really left.
